Monthly Meetings: Coalition members meet monthly to drive campaigns aligned with our vision and platform.
Decision-Making:
Decisions, campaign endorsements, and new member approvals require a two-thirds supermajority vote. Each organization has one vote.
Organizations receive a one-week email notice before any vote to allow for deliberation.
Working Groups and Committees: Ad hoc working groups or committees may be formed as needed to advance coalition efforts.
Steering Committee: The Steering Committee is composed of organizations who are actively engaged in advancing the coalition’s goals. A majority of the organizations on the Steering Committee are and must be community-based organizing groups that are organizing and building power with low-income people of color and people who have been often overlooked in the district. The committee includes 5-10 active members from local organizations, with the majority being residents of the Westside who are not paid staff of their organizations. This ensures that the coalition’s direction is guided by individuals directly impacted by its decisions and actions. The Steering Committee meets monthly and is responsible for:
Guiding coalition work and monitoring progress toward shared goals.
Reviewing reports from working groups and making decisions on plans to achieve coalition priorities.
Addressing funding or capacity needs to support coalition efforts.
Ensuring decisions align with the coalition’s goals and priorities established by the full membership. Quick decisions, when necessary, require at least 24 hours for input from all members.
Facilitating transparency and fostering collaboration among coalition members.
